He (yes he) is a Long Hair Doxi Cocker Spaniel mix (according to Operation Kindness) who is a year and a half old.
Gabby had the honor of naming our new addition as he is her dog. After many rounds of "Whats the dog's name?" "Mustard!" - Gabby "NO" - Mom and I "Dog?" - Gabby "no" - M & I "Merlin?" - Me "M..Mearlin.....Marlin.... oh no SHARK!" - Gabby "Ok, no. What about Sam?" - Me "*gibberish* Geen Egg Ham?" "Bam Bam?" - Me Blank Stare - Gabby "ok he can be Ben for now and we'll figure a name out at home" And just as they bring the dog back in a little voice pops up from her chair in the corner. "Bam Bam, Here!" "Bam Bam?!" Mom and I "*nod* Bam Bam" - Gabby
So with out further ado. Bam Bam, sporting just about the same face that made me bring him home.
He's a very calm little boy who is just learning how to play with people (he gets playful but when you try to play with him he kinda goes deer in the headlights on you). He doesn't mind Gabby running up to him or grabbing at his face or legs/tail. He's a Dogs Dog, in the lobby of Operation Kindness he made friends with a HUGE hairy dog and walking around the complex he made friends with a little dog as well. The only time we've heard him "speak" is when we put him in his crate for the day. He's not a whiner or a barker. We are already working on listening to his new Big Mommy, Little Mommy and Daddy and he sits on command just around 50% of the time. (can I tell you how funny it is to listen to Gabby give him commands)
And a new development in the right direction, as of last night he has started walking up and down the stairs on his own. We where having to carry him since he was scared.
He's a good little boy and I'm happy that he is adjusting so well to our family.
He's good for me too. I get up around 5:30 and take him for about a 1/2 hr walk plus on week nights he gets at least two more. So my big ass is getting some exercise. :)
